Lowell is still in danger — donate today!

 

Friends of Lowell Foundation implores and demands upon the SFUSD to follow the law by way of a legal notice.  An unvetted and illegal curriculum cannot be imposed upon all SFUSD students as a matter of fiat, and at the very least, the FOLF maintains that all San Franciscans have a right to be heard and have their inputs acknowledged in any mandatory curriculum imposed by the SFUSD. We thus need to ensure that we have the funds necessary to defend transparency, the CA Brown Act and independent evaluation of two semester mandate of "Voices" Ethnic Studies curriculum.

Public safety at Lowell is also critical for us - as Lowell had two bomb threats within a 12-month period where SFPD had to do a full sweep of the the campus while students were in class. We'll support efforts to reinstate the Memorandum Of Understanding between SFUSD and SFPD.

Meanwhile, our Committee for Improved Outcomes in Early Education is working to find solutions for improving education for younger children in failing SFUSD schools so that they are prepared to eventually apply for — and excel at — a rigorous institution like Lowell.
