FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the Friends of Lowell Foundation part of the Lowell Alumni Association? If not, how is it different?

The Friends of Lowell Foundation is independent from the Lowell Alumni Association. While the Lowell Alumni Association “maintains and enhances relationships that serve and support our alumni, students, school and the Lowell community,” the Friends of Lowell Foundation prioritizes the preservation of the elements that make magnet high schools like Lowell special, principally merit admissions.

Do you have any paid staff?

No. Our organization is entirely volunteer-run.

Do you have to be a Lowell High School alumnus to be involved?

Nope! A friend of Lowell is anyone who cares about merit admissions at Lowell. You can be an alumnus, parent, teacher, student, community member, or any combination of the aforementioned.

How can I get involved?

Please contact us or directly e-mail us at contact@friendsoflowell.org.  We’re always looking for individuals who are passionate about merit admissions to join our team. We have various committees that meet all year long.

Are you a partisan organization?

No. The Foundation is a strictly non-partisan organization. Our 501(c)3 tax-exempt status prevents us from endorsing political candidates.
